Dear Parents,

Welcome to First Grade at St. Rose School.

To help you get ready for the big day, here are a few suggestions. Each child will need a backpack (large enough to hold a lunch box, a few books and a pencil bag). Remember to put your child's name on all articles coming to school.

For the first day and throughout the school year, your child should have the following:

1. his/her own supply of #2 pencils
2. a good eraser
3. coloring crayons (NO markers)
4. scissors
5. glue sticks
6. pencil sharpener with attachment for shavings
7. a zippered pencil bag/box
8. 2 basic folders with 2 pockets in each folder
9. 1 70 page spiral notebook

When sending in money, please enclose it in an envelope with the child's grade, name, and reason for money. Lunch order should be written on the envelope.

Jewelry, headbands and belts which are distracting should be left at home. Toys should be left at home. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

Hopefully these suggestions will help you in planning and making the school year begin smoothly. I'm looking forward to meeting you and working with your child.
