Dear Second Grade Families,

Welcome to 2nd grade. I know summer vacation is just starting, but as you relax this summer, I hope the children are thinking about the fun they will have in 2nd grade.

Below is a list of supplies that you should have when you come back to school in the fall. Other supplies may be requested as needed. It is your responsibility to replace supplies as needed. It is also important that the students have crayons and pencils at home to avoid having to bring them back and forth.

3 pocket folders
3 glue sticks
Crayons or colored pencils *NO MARKERS
5 sharpened pencils
2 erasers
2 silent reading books
1 pair of scissors
2 boxes tissues
1 roll of paper towels
1 package of baby wipes
2 packs of index cards
3 composition notebooks (NO SPIRAL BOUND)

If you bring a pencil sharpener to school, please make sure it has a cover so the shavings do not end up on the floor. The pencil case you choose should be a bag with a zipper or a box with a zipper.

Have a safe and relaxing summer. Don't forget to read and fill out your book report.

Dear Parents and Students,

Please remember to continue reading throughout the summer. Attached is a recommended 2nd grade summer reading list, the Governor book form and a book report form for you to complete as you read this summer.

Please make copies of the book report form to fulfill your 3 book reports. The book report forms and the Governor reading form should be filled out as you finish a book that is appropriate for your reading ability. When you come back to school in the fall, bring this packet back completed and you will be given a NUT card to use. Everything must be fully completed in order for you to receive the NUT card. No NUT cards will be given out for incomplete or blank forms. All packets must be given back to the teacher the first week of school.

Thank you and enjoy your summer!
